In an increasingly digital world, ensuring secure and privacy-preserving identity verification has become a pressing challenge. This is especially true in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), where distinguishing between humans and bots online is growing more difficult.
Worldcoin, a revolutionary project co-founded by Alex Blania and Sam Altman, aims to address this challenge by creating a global network for decentralized and secure digital identity, financial inclusion, and economic opportunities.
Worldcoin’s mission is rooted in providing “proof of personhood,” a way to verify that a user is a unique human without compromising their privacy.
By leveraging cutting-edge technology, including an innovative iris-scanning device called the Orb, Worldcoin offers individuals a World ID—a digital passport stored securely on their mobile devices.
This World ID can be used to access various digital services and prove humanness online, addressing concerns about fraud, fake accounts, and other digital-age risks.
How Worldcoin Works in Malaysia
Worldcoin brings its innovative technology to Malaysia with the aim of creating secure and privacy-preserving digital identity solutions.
At its heart is the World ID, a unique digital passport that verifies human identity without collecting personal data.
Beyond its use in identity verification, Worldcoin introduces opportunities for Malaysians to engage with cryptocurrency and explore financial benefits.
1. Downloading the World App
Users begin by downloading the World App, a comprehensive digital wallet developed by Tools for Humanity. Tools for Humanity is a technology company dedicated to creating innovative solutions for global identity, privacy, and financial inclusivity.
This app serves as a gateway to the digital economy, allowing users to store their World ID, access cryptocurrencies like WLD (Worldcoin’s native cryptocurrency), and manage other digital financial tools.

2. Generating a World ID
An unverified World ID is automatically created on the user’s phone upon installing the app. This digital ID acts as the foundation for proving that the user is a real human being (not a bot) and unlocking further app features.
3. Orb Verification
To complete the verification process, users need to visit an Orb—a cutting-edge iris scanner available at designated locations in Malaysia.
The Orb scans the user’s iris to generate a unique iris code, confirming their identity as a unique human.
This code is securely stored using encryption to ensure privacy. Verified users receive their fully activated World ID.
4. Crypto Integration and Earnings
Once verified, users in Malaysia can explore Worldcoin’s cryptocurrency ecosystem. Participants can:
- Receive Free WLD Tokens: As part of the onboarding process, verified users are rewarded with WLD tokens, providing immediate exposure to the cryptocurrency market.
- Trade or Hold WLD: Users can trade their tokens on supported crypto exchanges or hold them in their World App wallet, potentially benefiting from price appreciation as the ecosystem grows.
- Use WLD in the Digital Economy: WLD tokens can be used for various transactions, such as tipping, purchasing digital goods, or accessing exclusive services from businesses that integrate Worldcoin technology.
5. Privacy and Security
Worldcoin ensures that user privacy is safeguarded at every step.
Iris scans are processed and deleted on the device, with only encrypted iris codes retained in a decentralized manner.
This commitment to privacy allows users to engage with the system without concerns about their biometric data being stored or monetized.
6. Business and Personal Applications
Worldcoin’s presence in Malaysia unlocks opportunities for both individuals and businesses:
- For Individuals: Verified users gain access to WLD tokens, exclusive services, and the ability to participate in the growing crypto economy.
- For Businesses: World ID can be integrated to reduce fraud, authenticate customers, and enhance service delivery. E-commerce, gaming, and blockchain platforms are just some of the sectors that stand to benefit.
7. Collaborations and Growth in Malaysia
Worldcoin has partnered with MyEG Services Bhd and Mimos Bhd to integrate its technology into Malaysia’s blockchain infrastructure.
These collaborations aim to expand the network of Orb locations and provide businesses with the tools to integrate World ID into their systems.
8. Empowering Malaysians in the Crypto Economy
Through its combination of privacy-preserving identity verification and cryptocurrency incentives, Worldcoin offers Malaysians a chance to engage with the future of digital identity and finance.
Verified users can participate in the crypto ecosystem, explore new financial opportunities, and benefit from a secure, decentralized platform tailored for the AI-driven age.
By bridging blockchain technology with real-world applications, Worldcoin provides an accessible, inclusive path for Malaysians to thrive in the digital and crypto economies.

My Experience at the Sunway Geo Location
I visited the Sunway Geo Orb location at 9 AM. Here’s what you can expect:
- Queueing: There was a line, but the staff were efficient.
- Staff Support: Friendly staff helped resolve a verification issue after the Orb failed to send data to my wallet. They recommended restarting my phone, which resolved the problem.
- Environment: The location was warm, so bring a mini fan or dress appropriately.
- Preparation: Bring your IC (identity card) and ensure your appointment is booked, as the security guard checks this before granting access.
- Duration: The entire process took about 20 minutes.
Monthly WLD Claims
- Open the World App.
- Navigate to the Apps menu and access the Worldcoin App.
- Claim your monthly share of WLD.
💡 Take note that you won’t be able to claim fully right after the verification! You need to check into the app every month and claim your WLD manually.
How to earn 10% yield with Worldcoin Vault
What is the Worldcoin Vault?
The Worldcoin Vault is a feature within your non-custodial World App wallet that allows you to store WLD securely. It offers two account types:
- Vault: WLD is locked via a decentralized smart contract and can potentially earn yield from third-party providers.
- Spending: WLD is available for daily transactions.
Step 1: Transferring WLD Into the Vault
- Open your World App and navigate to the Wallet section.
- Select WLD Worldcoin and tap on the option to deposit into the Vault.
- Enter the amount of WLD you’d like to move.
- Tap Confirm Deposit to complete the transfer.
Step 2: Earning Yield in the Vault
- Deposited WLD in the Vault may earn additional WLD as yield, subject to terms set by third-party providers.
- The APY (Annual Percentage Yield) is displayed in the Vault and can vary. For example, if the maximum WLD amount eligible for yield is 250 WLD, any additional WLD will not accrue yield.
- Yield accrues continuously and is paid daily but is only accessible when you withdraw your WLD from the Vault.
Step 3: Withdrawing WLD from the Vault
- Open the World App and navigate to the Vault section.
- Select Withdraw and specify the amount of WLD you want to move to your Spending account.
- Review the withdrawal details.
- A security period will be initiated, during which you can cancel the withdrawal if needed. This period varies per user and is designed for security and savings protection.
- Once the security period ends, your WLD will be transferred to your Spending account.

- Copy the Wallet Address displayed on the screen.
Step 2: Transfer WLD from the World App to Hata
- Open the World App on your phone.
- Go to ‘Wallet’ and tap on ‘Send’.
- When prompted, click ‘Not now’ to skip additional steps.
- Paste the Wallet Address you copied from Hata.
- Tap on ‘I’ve confirmed the address’ to proceed.

- Once the transfer is complete, tap ‘Done’.
Step 3: Verify WLD Balance in Hata
- Open the Hata app and navigate back to the Wallet page.
- After a few minutes, the transferred WLD amount will reflect in your wallet balance.
Step 4: Withdraw WLD as Fiat Ringgit
- Sell your WLD tokens in the Hata app to convert them into fiat currency (MYR).
- Once converted, you can withdraw the MYR directly to your bank account.
Note: Hata does not allow direct crypto-to-crypto exchanges. If you want to buy other cryptocurrencies like BTC or ETH, you’ll first need to sell WLD for MYR and then use it to purchase your desired crypto.
By following these steps, you can seamlessly withdraw your WLD tokens into Hata and convert them to Malaysian Ringgit.
Claiming Previously Reserved WLD
Users with reserved WLD must redeem it by July 31, 2025.
- Open the World App and navigate to the Apps menu.
- Open the Worldcoin App.
- If you’ve been verified for over 24 hours, tap on the Redeem reservations button to claim.
